This should be on a new thread and a new subject, but I will try to help you out. I am assumeing that you are talking about a model C. The service door has 2 springs that are kinda like a screen door spring, only shorter. They are connected to the arms on each side of the door inside. These springs go down through holes in the bottom of the service cabinet on each side of the door to a couple of brackets that can only be accessed by removing the front panel. These brackets are screwed to the base frame and seem to have a small amount of adjustment. So if your springs are gone or broken, you will have to remove the front panel. Then it will be obviuos as to where they connect and how long they should be. Hope this is of help. Regards, sam

    Lowracer,

Congrats on your first meal from your chambers. So glad you were able to get it up and running. It's a good feeling to see everything you put into it was worth while. I'm sure having the green light from the appliance expert was a big sigh of relief. Enjoy all your meals to come.

    Mark:

Before I congratulate you, I'm a gonna chew you out for checking your oven burner flame with the door open! Tsk, tsk! I am astonished that you failed to close the door and have your wife observe the flames through your mica viewing port while you were making the proper adjustments.

Now that I got that outta me, I'd like to join the others in congratulating you AND your wife for everything you went through (and put her through) to get to this point. Also like to thank both of you for all of the information and entertainment you've provided. From what I know about teaching, students learn when they are engaged, and you've done that with flying colors.

    Regards,

    Joe

I Am New Just bought a Chambers 61-C that
needs a Oven Control Capilliary Tube and was
doing research on Robertshaw controls and
    came across A
Safety Recall Notice On Some Models of TS-11
Thermal safety valves. There was a
Phone # 1-800-232-9389 to call to check what
models of this system are being recalled.
I didn't see any mention of this in what I
    read yesterday.

Hi Pokey, You ae correct. Robertshaw did have a recall on the safety valves a couple of years back. If you purchase from a trusted appliance parts dealer you should be OK. They would have purged their inventory of the suspect parts. I would be carefull of buying the safety on Ebay because many of them are old stock that have been sitting in someones storage and probably not been checked against the recall.

the ts-11 valves recalled were manufactured between feb 2003 and aug 2004. the date codes are 0306 thru 0432. if you have one of the recalled valves contact robertshaw at 800-232-9389 for free replacement.
the majority of these were supplied to high end manufacturers for use in commercial ovens.

    Stoveman,

I am getting ready to order the parts for my safety valve system. I have the parts list that Mark so kindly wrote up.

When I was taking my stove apart, the tube to the pilot light going to the thermowell broke. My question is should I order 2 of the 1800-100 Universal 9b pilot kit's from Patriot supply? Can I simply replace the original tube with another size? If so, what size do you suggest? Does this require me to change the ****** that comes out of the manifold?

    Let me know,

    Gasseous

Hi Gassy, The quick answer is no. And for the rest of the story. Chambers used an odd size pilot tube. It is 5/32" outside diameter. This tubing is almost impossible to find today. The current pilot tubes are 1/8" and 3/16". So, if you try to connect either new size to the old 5/32" fittings, you will have a leak. So there are some things that can be done to work around this. You could replace the fitting at the manifold end and use a current pilot at the other end. In your case, you are going to be removing the old oven pilot and fittings on each end. So, use this old oven pilot tube to replace your bad thermowell tube. Don't cut it, just coil any extra length in an out of the way place.
